In a major sustainability initiative, Townsville-based solar installer SuperGreen Solutions, along with their installation partner Sureline, recently completed the installation of 173 550kw Canadian Solar panels on the roof of the V8 Supercars pit lane garages, located in Boundary St, Townsville.
This impressive project, laid out to form the word TOWNSVILLE, along with a chequered flag, not only highlights SuperGreen Solutions, expertise in large-scale commercial solar installations, it also demonstrates the Townsville City Council’s commitment to reducing their environmental impact. In addition, the implementation is set to become a striking and iconic addition to the Townsville roofline, greeting visitors as they fly into the city.
The 173 solar panels, spread across the expansive pit garage rooftop, have a combined capacity of over 93.5 kilowatts, making it one of the largest solar installations in the Townsville region. By harnessing the abundant sunshine in the area, the system is expected to generate a significant portion of the pit lane’s energy needs, reducing the reliance on grid-supplied electricity and cutting the carbon footprint of the V8 Supercars event.
